What Caring Communities Look Like

Hi, I'm Leong. I'm a father of two boys.

One of the things I've learned as a parent is that we don't parent alone. Children are raised in communities, and the best communities are the ones where people watch out for other people's children, not just their own.

That's what Starlight Children's Foundation does every single day in hospitals and their programs across Australia. When a child is facing the fear, pain, and isolation of serious illness, Starlight brings play, laughter, and belonging. They remind kids and their families that joy is still present, even in the most difficult of times.

I know how scary it is when your child has to go to hospital. And I know that most families going through that didn't choose it and can't do it alone.

This May, I'm taking on the Super Steps Challenge, walking 10,000 steps every day for 30 days. And each day I'm sharing a different reason why I do it on my TikTok (@growingwithleong) and Youtube (@leonghiew).
